All She Wrote Books
Helping a Displaced Business Get Back on Its Feet
All She Wrote Books is a queer woman-owned, feminist, intersectional bookstore in the greater Boston area. Starting as a pop-up in 2019, All She Wrote has blossomed into a treasured community resources, participating in many cause-related events and collaborations.
What do you do when your rent goes up over 130% in two years and your business is being displaced? To top it off, you have $8,000 in repair bills, need to move in 30 days, and raise at least $60,000 to keep your doors open. Oh, and your 5 year anniversary is coming up.
We set up an organizational system and strategy to get this campaign going fast. Activating Christina’s personal and professional networks were key. We secured coverage in places like the Boston Business Journal, MassLive, and Boston Globe.
In just five weeks, we helped raise over $60,000 due in part to effective influencer marketing.
Now they're celebrating 5+ years in business with the continued help of IvyHill's full service brand communications, including the infamous 'Hey, Christina?' video series on social media, the Friends of Ruby membership program, and international press hits.
Goals to Results, founded by Dennis Riley, is a B2B business that helps implement CRM systems, organize data, and create strong strategies to keep businesses and organizations on track.
IvyHill worked with Dennis on refining Goals to Results' messaging and came up with the foundation of a brand story video. We laid out an efficient schedule for getting the footage (and photos!) we needed.
Within the span of a few hours, our team set up, recorded an interview, gathered relevant B-Roll footage, and took branded photos.
Goals to Results now has a key element that succinctly explains their work to prospects and referral partners. Dennis and his team have also grown their content creation skills along the way with our guidance.
IvyHill teamed up with the team at Textured Eight, a woman-owned communication & design agency, to launch Aggregated, a bi-weekly web series breaking down crime trends and perceptions around criminal justice. We followed that up with the launch of The Jeff-alytics Podcast, building off the co-founder's popular newsletter and diving deeper into conversations around crime data with experts and every day people.
Improving the Ecosystem for Stronger Branding
Water Guardian is a sustainability tech startup in the Austin, Texas area that provides eco-friendly pool water treatment services. Instead of draining a swimming pool and refilling it, which wastes thousands of gallons of water, they use a mobile reverse osmosis filtration system to clean and refresh the existing pool water.
As an established founder of a top-rated pool care company, Bryan was having a hard time simplifying and articulating Water Guardian's capabilities. He had a vision for what was possible, but his expertise was actually getting in the way of people's understanding.
Identifying the right audience and building traction was also proving to be more difficult than anticipated.
IvyHill collaborated for a total build out of Water Guardian's messaging, brand identity, content, website copy, and marketing strategy. We also provided education to the team about how they can create their own videos, bridging the gap between their company's mission and the daily work it does. We also helped run a paid ad campaign on KUT.
They are now able to clearly articulate their vision for the product and have a solid go-to-market approach. They've seen a 30%+ uptick in new business within just a few months!
Porter Square Books
Same Story, Different Chapter
With deep roots in Porter Square Plaza in Cambridge, MA, Porter Square Books knew it would be a big deal if they went to a new location. In October 2024, they did just that by moving into Lesley University's University Hall location.
Ensuring accurate information was shared with the public (especially loyal customers), promotional strategy development, and strategic partnership coordination were all front of mind for the team.
IvyHill oversaw the "Same Character, New Setting" campaign from start to finish, mapping out the messaging, promotional strategy, keeping the project on track and stakeholders informed. Media relations and community outreach were a big part of the work as well as providing support to PSB's team.
Within the first 48 hours of announcing, we received over 10 media hits and hundreds of online comments. We saw continued coverage through other activations as well, including the Human Book Chain.
Wicked Good Mom Media
Community Connection Through Strategic Visuals
Wicked Good Mom Media LLC publishes content written by local moms for local moms multiple times a week on BostonMoms.com, CapeCodMoms.com, RhodeIslandMoms.com and all of it’s associated social media channels, reaching over half a million people each month collectively. They also produce dozens of free and ticketed events.
The team realized they needed to offload the video production and editing for the "Mom's Eye View" series along with other videos.
IvyHill assists with creating visual assets for their various video projects from "Moms Eye View" to mom-friendly events. These videos not only further Wicked Good Mom Media's brand reach, but also provide opportunities for busy moms to connect with trusted businesses and community members.
SMPL-C is an AI-enabled platform designed to simplify a complex, but mandatory documentation preparation process, making it 40% faster and more cost-effective, so that the companies involved in the private defense sector can focus on their missions instead of paperwork.
Explaining the ins-and-outs of CMMC compliance to stakeholders without getting lost in the weeds of jargon was limiting SMPL-C's ability to scale. Creating a system where everyone from defense contractors to investors could understand not just the business, but the rundown of this mandatory requirement was critical.
IvyHill worked with the SMPL-C's leadership team to revise previously existing messaging, including revamping their investor deck and creating a simplified Brand Story Video
We have also advised on overall marketing strategy and potential PR tactics to help continue the brand's growth.
Hippy Pilgrim Helpline
An Unconventional Resource for Your Kitchen
After receiving an enthusiastic response to her homemade garlic salt in 2013, Suzy Sapir, a top 4 finalist on Next Food Network Star, took the leap and founded Hippy Pilgrim.
With its award-winning line of raw garlic salts and gourmet seasonings in over fifteen delicious flavors, Hippy Pilgrim stands out with its fresh take on classic flavors. Now, Suzy is kicking things up a notch with a free Helpline for anything food or kitchen-related.
Unconventional ideas require some creative thinking and planning. Having the right messaging for the Helpline, targeting the right audience, content strategy, organizing media contacts, media relations...all of these things were making Suzy's head spin.
IvyHill took on the challenge of launching the Helpline within a few weeks of starting work together. We collaborated with Main Paige Media, a woman-owned video production company, to create a series of explainer videos as well.
The teaser video for the Helpline has gotten over 200k views on TikTok, hundreds of positive comments, and news coverage across the country.
We are currently continuing to grow the presence of this resource through tailored social media strategy, video support, strategic partnerships, and more PR efforts.
KDZ Designs
Improving an Interior Designer's Brand with Big Results
Karen Dzendolet is the founder of KDZ Designs, a Western Mass-based interior-design company that specializes in artistic and functional design solutions. With a background in IT, Karen breaks down projects systematically and collaborates with clients to create designs that reflect their needs.
When you're a solopreneur, it can be tough to know how to take your brand to new heights. Plus, content creation can feel frustrating.
We've helped Karen steer her marketing, social media, and PR in new directions with guided support.
In just 12 weeks, Karen went from taking hours on a blog post to making videos with laser focused messaging, creating new connections, and appearing in an article on BobVilla.com.
East Somerville Main Streets
East Somerville Main Streets is part of a nationwide movement working to build thriving local economies and centers of community to develop local pride and identity.
The annual ESMS Foodie Crawl is one of the most popular events in East Somerville. The organization had limited capacity and needed help getting the word out to remain competitive while raising funds.
IvyHill provided overall communications strategy for the event, secured press coverage, coordinated influencers, produced a brand story video for the organization, and created a series of videos featuring local businesses. These were done in three different languages to reflect the diversity of the area.
The event saw a 40% increase in participation from the previous year.
Hot Plate Brewing
As the only Latina-owned brewery in all of Massachusetts, Hot Plate Brewing is quickly becoming a hub for communities in the Berkshires and beyond. What started as a business idea inspired by a loss of heat during the pandemic has evolved into a successful 7-barrel brewhouse and taproom that opened in Downtown Pittsfield in 2023.
Although the team has a strong marketing background, navigating the world of PR, staying on track with social media, and tailoring event activations that aligned with their mission was time consuming.
We helped this community-driven business with social media videos and strategic partnership activations. They have expanded their reach, landing articles in outlets like Wine Enthusiast, The Mountains, and Uproxx.
